Message from the President

I wanted to take some time and share my PMI Leadership journey with you all. 

In 2013, I was approached by a former PMI MN Board Director to join the Volunteer PMP instructor team. My immediate reaction was – what is in it for me ? After some deliberation, I agreed. Soon after, I found myself leading the seminars team as a program manager and then managing the Professional Development Certifications team. In 2016, I was appointed as the Chair of Professional Development committee. This gave me a unique opportunity to lead the teams, manage budgets, and take part in the strategic planning of the organization, which was truly rewarding . All this time, I made great friends with fellow PMI MN volunteers and other PMI chapters worldwide. In 2017, the chapter leaders sent me to Rome for the Global Leadership summit. That was a memorable trip. In 2017, I joined PMI MN Board of Directors. In 2019, I was elected as the Director of Finance and took charge of the Budget. At that time, our finances were not in the best health. It was a big challenge, and a great opportunity to balance the budget and bring our finances back on track. We made some major operational changes that helped us move in the right direction. In 2021, I was elected as the President Elect and Chief Operating Officer and managed the day to day operations of our chapter. For the first time in 6 years, we reported a net financial growth, and the membership satisfaction scores have been at an all-time high. I am thankful for the opportunity PMI MN gave me to advance my personal and professional growth and am truly honored and privileged to serve as your President this year. Also, as promised in my last newsletter, I am excited to announce that PMI-MN has launched the PMSFL 2022 Program (Project Management Skills for Life®) for youth 13 and up, at No Cost. In the 2 hour class, students will learn the basics of project management as well as tools and techniques that will help them to be successful at planning and executing their projects. We also offer a 6 hour advanced class that goes further into the details, with a hands-on project and an introduction to Agile Project Management. There are scholarships available to cover the cost of this class.
