Message from the President PMI Chapter Members New Year is a time to celebrate our accomplishments for the past year and look at things we could do better next year. Last 2 years have been particularly challenging for our community, and as we face new variants and surges across the world for COVID-19, one thing remains unchanged – our resilience and our determination to adapt to changes. I have seen so many stories of progress and hope first hand, and see a future in which some the world’s most challenging problems will be solved through projects and project managers. I am truly honored by witnessing how you have supported each other personally and professionally, making this world a better place. I want to start by giving you the latest update on PMI MN. Due to change in strategic direction and planning, I am excited to say that our Chapter’s finances are back on track, for the first time in 5 years. Our Membership satisfaction survey results are also at an all-time high as we continue to gain new members and retain existing ones. All this happened during the Pandemic, when we had to make major adjustments to the way we operate. An excellent example of how a change can impact us in a positive way. Next, I want to address what we are doing as a Chapter to support our professional development:
- Providing cutting edge trainings available to our members on new trends in project management – Agile, Artificial intelligence, DEI skills etc.
- Collaborating with PMI Global closely to provide latest industry certifications to our members.
- Realizing that networking and face to face is an important aspect of learning, I am excited to announce that we are planning to hold this year’s PDD in-person with a Hybrid model.
Lastly, I want to emphasize what we are doing to support our community:
- Board recently approved the creation of a new - Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee, which will focus on ensuring that our staffing, trainings, programs, Vendor contracts, all reflect Inclusion. It gives me great joy that our former Director of Governance and very talented Geraldine Marks is leading this Committee.
- Launched the “Veterans Month” in November 2021, offering special discounts and packages for our Military members. It was a huge success.
- Revamping our Scholarships program in 2022 by offering more opportunities. I will be sharing more details soon.
- Launching FREE PM training courses for schools and colleges, to expand the outreach and give back to the community.
- Community Service and Outreach (supporting Afghan Refugee families, and other events). I will be sharing more details soon.
As a reminder, we offer Hardship provisions, as we recognize that some of our members could find themselves in changed financial circumstances. - PMI Hardship Provision | PMI Minnesota. I want to Thank all the active Volunteers and leaders who continue to serve our Chapter and our members. If you have any questions or wish to join our mighty Volunteer team, please feel free to connect with our administrator or reach out to me directly . I wish you all a Very Happy New Year. Take care of yourself and your loved ones, and most of all be healthy and safe !
Sincerely, Manish Kalra, PMP® PMI MN President, CEO |

Nobody likes to fail. While we all know the importance o learning from our mistakes, both individuals and teams can struggle to bounce back when they miss their mark. Bouncing back means learning to identify where things might have done wrong, and know what to do to help your team recover. In addition, how we define the failure determines how we feel about it. Whether we continue taking action or stop dead in our tracks. In this session, we develop a basic framework to keep going and eliminate the risk of it happening again.
