Message from the President
Hello Members, Hope you all are enjoying the summer. June is the month of enjoying the outdoors – getting together with friends and family for BBQ’s, boat rides and more. It reminds me of how beautiful this state of ours is. June is also a time to both celebrate and reflect on the queer and black culture of our country. The Juneteenth and the Pride festivals are both celebrated around the country this month. I have a few exciting announcements to make:
- PMI Minnesota received the “Inclusive Leader of the Year” award this year, by Quorum, for our work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- The Board approved 3 annual scholarships for a total of $7000/ each year. More details will be published soon on our website, along with eligibility criteria.
- The PDD registration will be LIVE within a week’s time on our website. This year’s PDD will be held at the Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota on Monday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 13, 2022. The event comprises education classes on the first day followed by a Symposium on the second day. Our 2022 PDD Education Day will be a hybrid event, with both in-person full day classes and virtual half-day classes. Check out our PDD website for more details and to register!
- The Nominating committee has been approved by the Board, to start planning for 2023 Board of Directors offices. The committee will be reaching out to eligible volunteers to apply for the Elections. This year’s committee is being led by Alisha Bonzelet, a former Board Member. The elections will take place in September 2022.

JOIN a High Performing Team! - PMI MN Board of Directors & Supporting Chair Positions
Have you ever considered what you would gain from serving on the PMI-MN Board? Now is your time to find out. PMI-MN is a leading chapter in a global professional organization, and serving on the board is your opportunity to grow your leadership, give back to your chapter, and see where it takes you next. The Chapter has nine board positions. The three positions open this year for nomination to the 2023 Board year include:
- President-Elect, 3-year commitment
- Director of Governance, 2-year commitment
- Director at Large, 2-year commitment (one open position)
Candidates are required to have the following three “in good standing” qualifications:
- Membership: Current member of PMI-MN as recorded by PMI
- Attendance or volunteered in the past 16 months: Attended three Chapter events and/or volunteered a minimum of 40 hours
- Conduct: PMI Member and PMI Minnesota Chapter member in good standing.
Additional information about each of the positions is available here. To learn more about the process or express interest in nomination, contact the Nominating Committee. All candidates interested in running for election need to have expressed interest and submitted their complete bio and volunteer agreement form by July 23, 2022 to be included in the vetting process. Elections are held in September.
Additionally, PMI-MN also appoints committee chairs annually. PMI-MN has the following standing committees:

- Information Technology (IT)
- Marketing and Communications (MarComm)
- Professional Development (ProfDev)
- Programs
- Finance
- Sponsors
- Volunteer Services
- Professional Development Days (PDD)
- Operations (Chaired by the President-Elect)
Each Chair has operational responsibility for directing, overseeing regular and special projects, and/or assisting the Board Members in their respective responsibilities. Being appointed to this position carries a one-year commitment to the Chapter. Chairs may serve more than one year by being re-appointed. Express your interest in a Chair position by emailing NominatingCommittee@pmi-mn.org and a member of the Nominating Committee will reply.
