Message from the President PMI Minnesota Welcomes You to 2021! As we begin the new year, we find ourselves excited about the PMI Minnesota Chapter opportunities before us. We know that 2020 brought challenges, unexpected circumstances, and in some cases, heartache for so many in our families, workplaces, and communities. The PMI Minnesota Board, Operations Committee, and all of us in the Chapter are sending our sincerest well wishes. We are grateful that you are here with us to forge a path forward. From the pivots we have made as a Chapter, primarily resulting from the changes due to the Covid environment, we discovered opportunities we had not previously realized. Some include: - Reliance on virtual connectivity with members that we would not have otherwise experienced for our events, Professional Development Days, and general gathering sessions.
- Engagement with new volunteers at all levels. Everyone that supports our organizational efforts is valued and appreciated!
- Budget adjustments that have allowed us to be a more sustainable organization.
- Greater use of the technology we have at our disposal, in a more meaningful and impactful way.
That said, we miss you! One of the core benefits we provide our members, both in the Twin Cities metro and within our Outreach communities, is the in-person networking experience. We appreciate the conversations our members can have about best practices within their projects, job connections and introductions, and just reaching out to our leaders within the community. So . . . when will we be back? We are planning, based on approved environment guidance, to consider in-person events in late 2021. Look out for updates in our monthly event communications – we will keep you posted! Our members can find out what is coming up on our schedule, at any time, at join-us.pmi-mn.org/Events. The new year has also brought changes in the Board of Directors for 2021! We welcomed Kimberly Berger, Director of Finance and Aaron Kielhack, Director of Governance. Kimberly has previously served as the Vice Chair, and then Chair of the Professional Development Days Committee. Aaron joins us from the North Dakota Outreach Committee where he has helped plan, and engage members, through our North Dakota events. We are excited to have them join us to provide expertise, oversight of the organization, and guidance as we move forward through the year. Our entire Board profile can be found on the PMI MN website. In addition, we have welcomed back several of our Operations Committee leaders, and have many new leaders who are working to provide excellent programming on behalf of the PMI Minnesota members throughout 2021. Our Operating Committee leaders can be found at pmi-mn.org/operations-committee. We have an amazing year in store for you! Whether you are right here in the Twin Cities metro or participating in PMI Minnesota activities from our Outreach Communities, we are excited that you are joining us for the year ahead!
Sincerely, Ruth Birkholz, PMP® PMI MN President, CEO |
