A Message From the President:

Dear PMI MN Members,

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, and an opportunity to spend some time with family and loved ones. Not surprising, it was snowing this morning as I wrote this letter to you. Normally we should be seeing the vibrant colors of spring begin to bloom and April showers was away the remnants of winter. Regardless of what the weather is like here in Minnesota we are very good at adapting and making the most of it. April is a perfect time for renewal, growth and giving back to our communities. I hope this message finds you well and filled with energy to finally go after those dreams you have been thinking about.

As we step into the second quarter of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work we have accomplished together so far. We had our first in person dinner meeting organized by our programs committee. Our presenter did a great job on the topic that most leaders grapple with, “Want Accountability, Lead with Empathy." Last month in March, The Professional Development Committee put together their inaugural Women’s Month Panel event. It was quite an honor to be invited to participate as one of the panelists, we learned a lot from each other, sharing our insights and being vulnerable so others can learn from our experience. Looking forward to many more events like this in the future. We also hosted a successful leadership offsite facilitated by a remarkable coach. Everyone in attendance had great feedback about the event and I hope we can make it a tradition going forward. I hope to see you at an in-person event this year if you did not attend any of the events, we hosted in Q1.

Your dedication, expertise and commitment to our shared goals have truly made a difference in our community. Whether it is through volunteering, being an active member of the project management community, you have all played a vital role in setting us up for a successful year ahead. So let us continue this trend throughout the rest of the year. As we look ahead to the coming months, I encourage each one of you to embrace the spirit of volunteerism, and possibly run for PMI MN office this year. If you are already a volunteer, please log your volunteer hours on site www.pmi-mn.org. In a few short months we will start gearing up for the 2024 Election cycle and one of the requirements to run for office with us is a record that you have indeed volunteered with us. In addition, we use this information to recognize and thank our volunteers at our Annual Gala Event and 40th Anniversary Celebration which is coming up fast on May 4th. If you have not registered, please do so to secure your seat.

Together, let’s harness the energy of spring and April’s promise of new beginnings to drive meaningful change while serving our project management community. My heartfelt thanks to everyone for your continued membership and for volunteering with PMI MN chapter. Your unwavering support is what makes the chapter thrive and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible individuals.

It’s a matter of time before spring arrives in Minnesota. It will get here but while we wait, I would like to wish everyone a joyful and fulfilling spring season, filled with opportunities, growth, and moments of connection. Together, let’s make the second quarter a time of inspiration, impact and positive change.

Volunteer of the Month: Stephanie Skarolid

The PMI MN Chapter is honored to present Stephanie Skarolid as our April 2024 Volunteer of the Month!!

Stephanie has gone above and beyond to improve the quality of our Programs Committee events. Since she joined the committee, she has taken the recordings of our events and produced a beautiful presentation that PMI MN can post on our website for on-demand webinars for our members.

While technology is always a work in progress, we are extremely grateful for everything Stephanie has done so far. She is passionate about providing high-quality content to our members and it shows.

Board Member Spotlight:

Miriam Isaac

This month, we spotlight our Director at Large Miriam Isaac

Miriam Isaac has been a PMI member since 2017 and a PMI-MN volunteer since 2019. Her current Chapter Role(s) are Director at Large, Board Liaison for PMI-MN Outreach Committee, and 40th Anniversary committee member.  Miriam's past roles include Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee position from 2019-2021 and Chair of the DE&I Committee in 2022.

Miriam currently works as a Senior Program Manager with OneOme, a biotechnology company based in NE Minneapolis. Miriam has over 13 years of project and program management experience in the healthcare,  health insurance and biotechnology industries.

Miriam enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, volunteering, reading, dancing, meeting new people and spending time on any beach.
